SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING · CANBERRA
A welcoming space for young people to explore who they are. And a little more breathing room for the families who love them.
Room to take root.

Room to take root.
Every learner grows in their own way.
LEARNING DOESN’T HAVE TO LOOK THE SAME FOR EVERYONE
Free Path supports families with a learning community where young people can explore their interests, reflect on their progress and find their own direction.
Our approach gives curiosity a place to lead, with people and resources to support the journey.
The story behind Free PathTHERE IS MORE THAN ONE WAY TO LEARN
Accessible materials help learners move from curiosity to trying, making and investigating. Play and personal interests guide exploration.
Learners vote in weekly meetings about resources and mentors. Mixed-age interaction gives young people room to connect through shared interests.
Adults model goal setting and reflection. A notebook connects a morning goal review, notes at lunch and reflection with family at dinner. Learners choose their own next steps.
Ask about help with homeschooling applications, learning programmes and annual reports. The Canberra team can explain current support.
Explore internships, apprenticeships, university portfolios or entrepreneurship with a mentor. Staff conversations can be requested; transport is considered case by case.
The larger-centre vision includes spaces for music, art, technology, games, practical workshops and outdoor exploration. Gardens, specialist facilities and residential camps are future ambitions. Ask which resources are available in Greenway now.
PROGRAMMES IN PLANNING
Free Path is bringing its learning approach into focused programmes: choosing a meaningful goal, trying it with guidance, learning together and reflecting on progress. AICADE brings its own programmes through our partnership; Free Path is developing further options around speaking, drama, guitar, music and practical projects.
Suggested groups are Younger Years (5–8), Middle Years (9–12), Older Years (13–18). Older learners can take part alongside school. Interests, experience and support needs help shape the right challenge, with room for mixed-age learning too.
Explore AICADE's own programmes through a partnership that shares Free Path's approach to learning.
Find something worth saying, then practise sharing it in a way that feels like you.
Invent characters, explore stories and make something together through play and performance.
Choose music you care about and build a practice routine around a personal musical goal.
Explore rhythm, sound and musical ideas, then create a piece that belongs to the group.
Choose something useful to make or improve, and learn by working through a real project.
These are programme plans to explore with the team. Dates, fees, group arrangements and available places will be confirmed before a booking is offered.

Talk with us about current sessions and arranging a visit.BEFORE YOU TAKE THE FIRST STEP
A few good questions, answered. We’re always happy to talk through yours.
Your family chooses a rhythm that fits your life. Discuss the days, time and current sessions you need with the Canberra team, rather than building everything around a conventional school timetable.
A daily goals and reflection notebook, activity updates and a yearly report prepared with your child help you follow their learning journey.
Mentors work with the learner and family to explore options such as apprenticeships, internships, university portfolios or starting a business.
Our aim is to support happy, healthy and prepared young adults who understand their interests and next steps, while giving families more independence and choice.
Arrange an information call to talk about your family, ask questions and find out what is available in Canberra.
